Our weekend!

We are often very busy on weekends and this one was no different!
Austin is in cub scouts. He is a Tiger (1st grader). He really enjoys it and this weekend was the famous pinewood derby! The kids and I have never been to one, so we were really excited. Over Christmas break the kids both picked a design and made a car with a LOT of help from Grandpa Kobiske and daddy. Grammie Reynard, daddy and mommy helped them paint and decorate them. The kids actually did help a lot :-). Austin wanted a GOLD car..so that is what he got. Very simple with the number 7 on it. O and black windows! With lots of clear coat sprayed on..so they shined. Austin's car is the 1st car on the left. Austin named his "Shiney".
Caitlin's was a whole other thing. We weren't worried as much how fast hers went. So we made it girlie. She wanted an orange, pink and purple Hannah Montana car. So that is how we came up with the paint scheme. Then added crystals and glitter paint. She wanted to have the same number as her uncle Robbie...so that was easy for me to create. I used some of his stickers. :-) Caitlin named her car "cutie". She actually won Best Artistic Car design out of all the kids! Her car was not very fast, but it looked good! :-)
Here is Caitlin and her car after the race.
We prepared Austin for the win and lose speech before the race. Just to have fun. Well we all had fun. Of course when you are winning how can you not! :-D Austin's car won every heat it was in.. I believe. It was a very fast car. Austin was thrilled. Here is a picture Austin and one of his friends, Ryan, watching their cars come across the finish line.
Then Austin won the Tiger cub division. So he had the fastest car in his age group and would later compete with all the winners from the other age groups. Here he is getting his medal pinned on by daddy!
And the Proud WINNER!!
The 4 cars at the top are the ones he raced in the finals. His car was getting worn out from all the races. The tires wobbling and a chipped front end. He finished 4th. The other cars were all pretty even and very fast. We were very proud of him and the way he handled the day.
We went to another birthday party last night for our neighbors little girl. And since it was a Hannah Montana party Caitlin dressed properly for the occasion....in her NEW Hannah Montana outfit. Wal-mart is loaded with them now. But I let her pick out one and this is the one she picked.
She also was caught teaching the cat how to play a video game. He seemed to really catch on :-D hahahaha
We had Sunday school this morning and Dan had to work! Now we are enjoying our Sunday. Watching a movie and doing laundry. We are planning another trip to the park to play, but we have to get our work done here 1st!
And one to leave you on. I laughed very hard over her choice for outfits this past week for dance! So of course I took pictures. She likes to pick out her own clothes and there are times you wonder what look she is going for. So this week when it was time to go to dance she picked heavy cotton multi-colored striped tights, a crushed velvet leotard and her pink skirt. And she proudly posed for me while I took the pictures!
Hope you had a great weekend!
