This and that..

Well it has been a slower week.. Austin had off Monday and Tuesday and Dan was on vacation, so we took a short trip to Oklahoma. It was cold! We hung out with my brother and his girlfriend, Ashley most of the time and had dinner at their house with my parents. We ate and then played UNO. HA ha...that was an experience. It was nice getting to see them for a while. We came back early for Dan to play basketball and then after we got back found out it was canceled! O well!

We have been working on a class project for Austin. It is called Flat Stanley and he had to color him and then send him out to different people. It was a neat project. Stanley went to Tennessee, was faxed to China and flew to Baltimore with Robbie. After getting pictures and stories we had top place it in a folder for Austin to take back to school. It turned out very neat.
Austin has several other projects coming up over the next 2 weeks. He gets to pick an American Hero (from a list) and become him and give an oral presentation. Austin was mad that Teddy Roosevelt wasn't an option. But right now he is leaning toward Ben Franklin, Davey Crockett, and Abe Lincoln. So we will see. Then the 100th day of school is coming and he has to make a project using a 100 of one item. Lots of fun to keep us busy along with Cub scouts and Valentine's coming soon.

Caitlin has been busy dancing and singing. She has really gotten into all of that stuff. She watched a High School music type thing the other night and was loving it and wanted to jump rope with them! :-) Never a dull moment here!

Sending hugs to all!

It's here!

Ok we got it last night a new Nissan Pathfinder. It gets about the same mileage as the van did.
Dan is so excited to not have a minivan anymore. HA! I think he is going to be driving more..or he may want to sit in the passenger seat to just play with the Stereo system (which is a Bose). It is a pretty Mocha color with tan (cafe latte) leather interior. SO I guess we have a starbucks car with all the coffee colors :-) And it has heated seats hahaha the things we get excited about. I was a mess yesterday and glad Dan does such a good job dealing with the car people. Very nice! :-D

Buying a car....

OK we are in the process of getting a new vehicle... I totally stress over this kind of stuff. All the looking, dealing with car salesman, and then the whole purchase part of it. YIKES!!!!!! Dan is much better at it. He stays calm..with a bit of smart butt too. I guess being a manager he knows how to handle these things better. I over analyze every little detail. hahaha OO the stress is on (for me). When we finally buy one.. we will let you know..look here for pictures! :-)

Dan is on vacation this weekend. We have spent time playing Lego's in Austin's room and just hanging out as a family. The kids love looking and riding in new cars. We looked at a mini van that was so loaded it looked like a space ship (it was white too). Dan wanted NASA stickers for it hahaha. The kids thought it was cool with glass windows on the ceiling and 2 TV's hahaha really do people buy these cars?? Dan and I both said no way...hahaha.

The kids love having Dan home with us. We are just enjoying being together after the busy Holiday season!

Our weekend!

We are often very busy on weekends and this one was no different!
Austin is in cub scouts. He is a Tiger (1st grader). He really enjoys it and this weekend was the famous pinewood derby! The kids and I have never been to one, so we were really excited. Over Christmas break the kids both picked a design and made a car with a LOT of help from Grandpa Kobiske and daddy. Grammie Reynard, daddy and mommy helped them paint and decorate them. The kids actually did help a lot :-). Austin wanted a GOLD car..so that is what he got. Very simple with the number 7 on it. O and black windows! With lots of clear coat sprayed on..so they shined. Austin's car is the 1st car on the left. Austin named his "Shiney".
Caitlin's was a whole other thing. We weren't worried as much how fast hers went. So we made it girlie. She wanted an orange, pink and purple Hannah Montana car. So that is how we came up with the paint scheme. Then added crystals and glitter paint. She wanted to have the same number as her uncle Robbie...so that was easy for me to create. I used some of his stickers. :-) Caitlin named her car "cutie". She actually won Best Artistic Car design out of all the kids! Her car was not very fast, but it looked good! :-)
Here is Caitlin and her car after the race.
We prepared Austin for the win and lose speech before the race. Just to have fun. Well we all had fun. Of course when you are winning how can you not! :-D Austin's car won every heat it was in.. I believe. It was a very fast car. Austin was thrilled. Here is a picture Austin and one of his friends, Ryan, watching their cars come across the finish line.
Then Austin won the Tiger cub division. So he had the fastest car in his age group and would later compete with all the winners from the other age groups. Here he is getting his medal pinned on by daddy!
And the Proud WINNER!!
The 4 cars at the top are the ones he raced in the finals. His car was getting worn out from all the races. The tires wobbling and a chipped front end. He finished 4th. The other cars were all pretty even and very fast. We were very proud of him and the way he handled the day.
We went to another birthday party last night for our neighbors little girl. And since it was a Hannah Montana party Caitlin dressed properly for the occasion....in her NEW Hannah Montana outfit. Wal-mart is loaded with them now. But I let her pick out one and this is the one she picked.
She also was caught teaching the cat how to play a video game. He seemed to really catch on :-D hahahaha
We had Sunday school this morning and Dan had to work! Now we are enjoying our Sunday. Watching a movie and doing laundry. We are planning another trip to the park to play, but we have to get our work done here 1st!
And one to leave you on. I laughed very hard over her choice for outfits this past week for dance! So of course I took pictures. She likes to pick out her own clothes and there are times you wonder what look she is going for. So this week when it was time to go to dance she picked heavy cotton multi-colored striped tights, a crushed velvet leotard and her pink skirt. And she proudly posed for me while I took the pictures!
Hope you had a great weekend!

The Kobiske Family blog #1

Well a few of my friends have these and said it makes it easy to keep everyone informed of what is going on in our little world. So here we go!!! Check back often for pictures and updates! You all know how I LOVE pictures and to talk!!

Let me catch you up with what has happened this year already!

2008!!!
We brought in the New Year with all our neighbors on our street and it was wonderful. All the kids made it until midnight and the adults too! haha We all brought food. So after we ate we needed to pass the time. We then played Singstar on playstation 2 (which is a lot like karaoke, but you get points for getting the notes). The adults had a BLAST playing this. I think everyone on our street will own one soon. :-)

Then Jan. 3rd I turned 32!!! Which wasn't too bad!! Nothing too exciting happened that day. Dan took off work and he took Austin to school..so I could sleep in. That was soooo nice! Then we went to the Cheesecake Factory where I had my favorite Chicken salad sandwich and a White Chocolate cheesecake to go! I was too full to eat it! :-) Then I got to go get a pedicure with two of my girlfriends (that I actually went to High school with...what a small world ) Thanks Danielle and Cindy. It was great end to my day!
The weekend was beautiful with temps in the upper 70's. We spent a lot of time outside..cleaning the car, cleaning flower beds, and playing!!

Austin went back to school on the 3rd and was so excited to see his friends! His best friend in class is a girl named Taylor. They had an instant friendship on day one in class. She is so cute. She got to come to our house to play today. They both enjoy talking and tend to get in trouble in class for that..often! Here is a picture of them...
On the 6th I started back at Sunday School and it was wonderful to see all my kids again and hear about their Christmas.
Caitlin started back in dance on Wed the 9th. She was thrilled to get all our routines back in place...because after dance we have a play date with her best friend, Quincy. It is our weekly get together so she can have "girl time". Plus it is nice for the us mom's to have some adult conversation. :-D
Dan of course has been working, working, working!! He really does enjoy Michaels and the store that he is at. He just HATES the long drive and traffic that he has to deal with in the evenings. He is happy Christmas is over...his life slows down a bit now. Of course I am happy to have him home more too. :-)
He got to go to a Mavs basketball game this week with a friend he plays basketball with. Oo the fun we went through to get those tickets. I will just spare you the details! They were suppose to be great seats that my brother worked on getting through a friend of his as Dan's Christmas gift!! Well needless to say after 2 tries and many other mishaps he got to go watch from the nose bleed seats!! But suppose to have a chance at MUCH better seats at the end of this month! :-) He had a great time and loved it anyway! So we will see if he gets the good seats later this month.
He also started back in his basketball league that he plays in... last night (Jan 10th) and they won. He took a bit to warm up and get going, but by the 2nd half he was back in the groove scoring and looking like the PRO he is!!! But this morning had issues MOVING! Not bad for an old man trying to keep up with the HS grads and early twenty-somethings he is playing against! :-D Caitlin really enjoyed cheering on her daddy! Good thing he only had a meeting today, but he still went to his store this morning to help unload the truck! He has until Tuesday to recover! haha
I will try to keep everyone updated as often as I can and add lots of pictures of the kids. So check back often!
Have a great weekend!
